Replace UITabBar with UIToolBar

I have an application with UITabBarController with a UINavigationController subview, which holds a table view. I want to be able to switch out the UITabBarController with a UIToolbar for a specific view controller when a cell is selected.

Here's an example from some other application, which reacts the same way:

Initial view with UITabBarController and UINavigationController

And when you select a table view cell:

Detailed view with UIToolbar

The detailed view controller (second screen) needs to replace the parent UITabBarController with an UIToolbar. Does anyone know how I can do this?

UITableView into a UIScrollView?
UITableView into a UIScrollView? I'm looking to have two views which are part of a constituent set. Data in each view would be best represented in a UITableView. I'd like to then add a gesture to flicker the view off screen and have another similar view brought in, with a page indicator control. My fear is that UITableView intercepts touches and becomes the responder to any such 'flickering' which the UIView might be waiting for. This will directly impede on the usability of the application. So my question to you usability/UI experts is, is putting a UITableView inside of UIPageControl a poor design choice? A UITableView is a subclass of UIScrollView. The PageControl sample provided with the iPhone SDK explains nicely how to use a UIScrollView with UIPageControl. Any method which belongs to UIScrollViewDelegate will be called inside your view controller if the view controller
UITableView Implementation
UITableView Implementation in the screen shot below, there are UISegmentedControl in between grouped UITableViewCells...it seems. How does one add other controls in between grouped cells in a UITableView? You could make the Segmented View the same size as 1 table cell. Dead Simple to do in Interface Builder. Tables with multiple sections, and sections can have custom header and footer.. - (UIView *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView viewForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section; // custom view for header. will be adjusted to default or specified header height - (UIView *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView viewForFooterInSection:(NSInteger)section; // custom view for footer. will be adjusted to default
UITableView problems
UITableView problems I've added a UITableView component to a ViewController in Interface Builder to make it easier to customise as the UITableViewController won't let me set a background image. I've then implemented some basic functions just to test if it works, but cannot get it to display any cells - does anyone have any suggestions on how to get it working? - (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { return 3; } // Customize the number of rows in the table view. - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { if (section == 1) { return 2; } else { return 1; } } I've created a UITableView IBOutlet called tripSettings and have wired it up as a referencing outlet Make sure that the tableView as your view controller as dataSource and delegate. you have to make your class inherit
UITableView as a UIScrollView
UITableView as a UIScrollView I've been working with a UIScrollView and have about 200 items to scroll through...so far. This doesn't work since it takes around 45 seconds to load all of the views. I've tried loading the first 20 (about 4 seconds) on the main thread then load in blocks of 50 on other threads. I get the first 20 to scroll through but the others don't appear. It's taken lots of effort just to get the UIScrollView to work properly and there are still some issues. The UITableView will solve all of this for me since it reuses cells. It's similar to the UIScrollView except more efficient. I'd like to have one cell take up the entire viewing area and have the user flick through each cell. Rather than freely scrolling through cells, scrolling will stop at each cell and the user must flick again for the next cell. The UITableView doesn't do this that I know
Adding to UITableView
Adding to UITableView I am working on an iPhone app, but i need to be able to add things to a UITableView... What is the easiest way to do this? Techy If you're using a UITableViewController which is backed by an NSMutableArray (or NSArray), then the first thing you have to do is add the new object to your array with something like: [objects addObject:obj]; Then call [tableView reload] which will cause tableView:numberOfRowsInSection: to be checked. - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { return [objects count]; } Finally, tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath: will be invoked, which you have probably already written to handle rendering cells
UITableView 'Bookmark'
UITableView 'Bookmark' Hi, I have a UITableView with sections. There's a lot of data in it so there's a lot of scrolling. When I leave the page(viewWillDisappear) I want to be able to 'bookmark' the current top visible section so the user can come back to that section they left off at when they return to the view. I am using scrollToRowAtIndexPath to get there when the view loads but I cannot figure out how to get the index (or position or what?) of the current top visible section when they leave the view (without using didSelectRowAtIndexPath) so I can save it and use it with scrollToRowAtIndexPath when returning. Can anyone help? Thanks!! UITableView with cocos2d
UITableView with cocos2d hello, i am a learner at the area of objective c. i am trying to build an iphone app. and here i have used cocos2d. now i would like to use UITableView for showing data from XML file. Now it is my question that , is it possible to use UITableView with cocos2d and is it also possible to retrive data from XML file. Absolutely! The XML file doesn't even have to be local in your app. I recommend parsing the XML with something like TouchXML. The only built in iPhone XML parsing library is a event based one that is hard to use unless you have the right sort of structure... be based on the core iPhone APIs. Thus, your using Cocos2d is irrelevant to your use of UITableView. As for XML parsing, that is, of course, not done by Cocos2d. Cocos2d is a high-level abstraction of OpenGL for relatively easy game development; XML parsing is not in its purview. Thus, again, your

I dont understand clearly your question, but i will try at first make a another view with the controlls in IB and assign it to one IBOutlet in UITableViewController class, next assign it to the table view header of the table view. Here is a good example of it: http://cocoawithlove.com/2009/04/easy-custom-uitableview-drawing.html i hope it helps
